The Gift - 2019

After the theatrical release of the film Nostalgia, Andrej Tarkovsky has run out of permission to work abroad: he must return to his homeland. But from the messages he receives from friends and colleagues, he realises that an even harder life awaits him in Russia than the one that has always been reserved for him, despite his talent and successes. So he decides to break with the Soviet authorities and, a year before the 1984 Milan Conference where he will announce this decision, he leaves his Roman friends who are hosting him and takes refuge in a secret location.
